Ice Ice Baby

Mother Nature brought us some snow on Tuesday and freezing rain on Wednesday. The roads in the morning were covered with a nice layer of ice — too bad I don’t have any ice skates any longer. I could have skated around the neighborhood. Schools were closed, many people stayed home, or went in late to work. I slid off my deck to snap a few pictures.

Newly painted front door at the Hoffmann House / July 7, 2008

Newly painted front door at the Hoffmann House / July 7, 2008

Our front door has been an embarrassment for years. The faded blue never seemed warm and inviting.  After getting paint samples and checking them against the gray siding and our almond trim, we selected Cinnamon Cherry.

Originally we thought we would paint the door and the shutters this color, but have now decided to paint the blue shutters with dark gray.  That project will have to most likely wait unti after I finish my new project — the shed.  More on that in a later posting.

Better Late Than Never

This is something I should have started years ago, but that is water under the bridge, and the journey will start now.

I’m Dave, and this is the start of my report.  This report will be a continuing account of the goings on around me and my family.   I am married to Linda, and have four children — Brian, Brittany, Keely and Henry.

Of course I have photo albums and digital images dating back to when I was a child, but in looking through them, only our memories help in telling the story of what was going on.   As I get older, and look back on photos from my early years, and those before I was born with relatives I may or may not have met, I must depend on stories heard by my parents, and grandparents to know the story and characters within these photographs.

It is my hope that through this report to add more detail and information to the photographs taken now, so that my children and future grandchildren will have that information accessible to them without depending on the memory of others.

Thank you for visiting.
